Three tips to make your analysis faster and easier

In this newsletter we focus on three very useful pieces of functionality that can make your everyday data analysis easier and faster.

1. Import of descriptive information of samples and or variables. This can be clinical information, information about your experiment or information about the measured variables. The versatile Annotation Wizards will help you with the import. The best thing with the Wizards is that they are very flexible and accept that data is structured in many ways. This means that you can start with more or less any text or comma separated file (.txt or .csv or .tsv). The Wizards will guide you through a well-defined number of steps to select the parts of the file to import and map.

2. Pre-filters. Often your experiment data will include measurements that need to be managed before analysis can start. The pre-filters can be used to remove variables that not are measured in enough samples, to remove variables with too many missing values or remove variables that do not meet certain quality criteria. These options make it easy to set-up the filters mandated by the experiment.

3. Use the t-SNE plot for data set with many samples. The t-SNE plot is a useful complement to PCA. You can work with synchronized plots and inspect your data both in a PCA plot and a t-SNE plot in parallel. Combine this with the kmeans++ clustering and a suite of tools for both unsupervised and supervised clustering is at your fingertips.
